Dog Bed Sizing

To assist you in finding the best fitting bed for your dog, the following guidelines are provided. The list of dog breeds (below) should help to establish what size range your dog best fits into. Further down the page is an additional measuring tool that you might find useful.

Small Bed - 23" x 29" x 7" (Width x Length x Height):

Suggested for dogs that are approximately the size of these breeds: Affenpinscher, Basenji, Belgian Griffon, Bichon Frise, Belgian Griffon, Boston Terrier, Chihuahua, Chinese Crested, Dachshund, Italian Greyhound, Maltese, Miniature Pinschers, Lhasa Apso, Papillon, Pekingese, Pomeranian, Pug, Schnauzers, Shetland Sheep Dog, Shiba Inu, Shih Tzu, Small Poodles, Spaniels, and Terriers, Toy Poodle, Yorkshire Terrier.

Medium Bed - 28" x 34" x 7" (Width x Length x Height):

Suggested for dogs that are approximately the size of these breeds:

Australian Cattle Dog, Beagle, Border Collie, Corgis,

French Bulldog, Laufhunds, Medium Hounds, Sheepdogs, Spaniels, and Terriers, Shar Pei, Schnauzer, Small Bassets, and Whippet.

Large Bed - 33" x 39" x 7" (Width x Length x Height):

Suggested for dogs that are approximately the size of these breeds:

Afghan Hound, Akita, Australian Shepard, Basset Hound, Boxer, Bulldog, Chow, Coonhounds, Dalmation, Doberman Pinscher, German Shepard, Giant Schnauzer, Greyhounds, Laikas, Lapphunds, Large Collies, Sheepdogs, Spaniels, and Terriers, Pointers, Retrievers, Rhodesian Ridgeback, Setters, Siberian Husky, Standard Poodle, Vendeens, Vizsla, and Weimaraner.

The measuring tool that we are about to suggest actually works pretty well. Using a yardstick and masking tape, take the measurement from one of our beds above, and create an outline of it on the floor. Have your dog lay down in the center of the outline. Use this as a guide to help you determine which bed size best suits your dog. Keep in mind your dog’s sleeping style. If they prefer to stretch out, they'll probably be more comfortable on a larger bed than a smaller one. If they prefer to curl up, then a smaller bed just might do!
